Marion Cotillard Takes the Anti-Bodycon Dress to the Cannes Red Carpet—And Wins

Marion Cotillard might be one of the most daring dressers at the Cannes Film Festival right now. The French actress wore badass biker boots with Chanel last week and sparkled at the after-parties in Stella McCartney’s leopard print onesie and an elegant, skin-baring number by Guy Laroche. She took things up a notch once again last night when she graced the red carpet of the festival in a cream-colored J.W. Anderson drop-waist dress.

The monastic style was a relatively quiet choice for Cotillard who has made a splash along la croisière in eye-catching pieces. With its knife-pleat skirt and gathered neckline, the dress was deceptively simple and had a sophisticated ease and movement to it that was in stark contrast to the popular body-hugging silhouettes favored by her peers. A simple, chain-link pocket book finished Cotillard’s ensemble with low-key polish.
