The quality of the flawless white stone and the intricacy of the carving on this imperial snuff bottle is exceptional. The sash design is a reference to the exquisite silk brocade wrapping used for gifts at court. A closely related snuff bottle from the Collection of Robert and Molly Hsieh was sold in these rooms, 23rd March 2004, lot 133.
