About the BMW X6

The BMW X6 continues to build upon its proven formula of combining the advantages of a Sports Activity Vehicle with the aggressive DNA of a coupe. The X6 captures attention with its bold form complemented by confident, creased body lines that help signify the tremendous capability of this exceptional SAV. Inside, you’ll have luxurious comfort for up to 5 passengers that’s complemented by upscale materials and interior finishes.

Regardless of your driving style, the BMW X6 has potent performance capabilities which help it excel across all types of weather and road conditions. You’ll have your choice of two turbocharged TwinPower engines along with the standard xDrive all-wheel drive system for superior grip on slippery road surfaces. A true technological marvel, the X6 gives you access to all your favorite apps and media via the latest-generation iDrive system beautifully presented on the BMW Curved Display, which combines a configurable 12.3″ instrument cluster and a 14.9″ central information display. New design elements from front-to-rear help showcase the impressive attributes of the BMW X6.

What the Critics Say

It spoils its passengers with a pleasantly elegant interior complete with an enormous infotainment screen that works as a high-tech command center. The X6 has inspired other SUVs, such as the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe, to lower their rooflines. Which only confirms that it was the X6 that started the move to sleeker SUVs.” – Car & Driver

First off, it drives well. Even in its standard six-cylinder setup, the X6 displays a lovely combination of performance and luxury. In pre-refresh models, we were impressed with the outrageous speed of the X6 M, but its suspension was unpleasantly stiff. Highway Assist will only add to the X6’s repertoire.” – MotorTrend

What’s New For 2024

The X6 got a facelift for 2024. The X6 was already an incredible SUV, so the changes haven’t been huge, but they are certainly noticeable. The change you’ll probably notice first is the new front fascia, which goes with a new lineup of wheel choices and redesigned taillights. Inside, you’ll find a reimagined dash, with the centerpiece being the BMW Curved Display, an impressive piece of tech and design that is becoming BMW’s standard infotainment setup.

The M50i gets a name change to the M60i, with the fantastically powerful V8 engine carrying over unchanged. With the name change, the M60i also gets gloss black exterior trim, an M badge for the grille, and quad tailpipes. The xDrive40i keeps its name, but it gets a mild hybrid system and a pretty serious bump in power, up to 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. There is now also available Highway Assistant, a hands-free cruise control system that is being rolled out across the BMW lineup.

BMW X6

Confident Styling

With the X5, BMW set a new standard for driving dynamics for midsize SUVs. Now with the X6, BMW has taken the same platform and made it as stylish as it is fantastic to drive. It’s clear how successful this idea was, now that we’ve seen so many imitators produced since the X6 debuted. But the X6 still sets the standard, with a sloping, coupe-like roof that hints at the outstanding performance potential of the vehicle. 20-inch wheels come standard, with an extensive list of other designs to choose from, up to 22 inches. The black Shadowline trim package that is optional on the X5 comes standard on the X6, with additional blacked-out elements available as part of the M Sport Professional Package. And for those looking for custom style, BMW Individual offers bespoke paint colors.

BMW X6 TwinPower V8 Engine

Capable Performance

As has been the tradition with the BMW X6, drivers will have their choice of two powerful powertrains to help them excel in all types of driving situations. Standard power for X6 xDrive40i models comes in the form of a balanced 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine combined with a mild hybrid system that produces 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Step up to the X6 M60i to receive the powerful 4.4-liter eight-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine featuring 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Each engine comes paired to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. An available factory trailer package gives the BMW X6 a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds. The optional Active Roll Stabilization system on the new BMW X6 also increases straight-line comfort by actively countering the vibrations triggered by bumps on one side of the road. Also helping to increase steering response, available Integral Active Steering is able to turn the rear wheels in the same or the opposite direction of the front wheels.

BMW X6 Interior

Interior Refinement & Technology

Designed to support every action of the driver, the meticulously-appointed interior of the BMW X6 supports all occupants with impeccable fit and finish. Fine wood trim, sport seats, and a Sensafin-covered dashboard are standard on all X6 models. You can also step up to Extended Merino Leather and BMW Individual Full Merino Leather upholstery if desired. Standard ambient lighting including Welcome Light Carpet illuminates as you approach the X6. Available thermoelectric heated and cooled cup holders help keep drink containers cool or warm, as desired.

Combining the ultimate in connectivity with technological innovation, the BMW Curved Display features the latest iteration of the iDrive system, a 14.9-inch center display, and a high-resolution digital 12.3-inch instrument panel joined together in one continuous curved piece. The Navigation Professional system, two USB-C ports, and Bluetooth interfaces lets you access your favorite apps and media with ease. To give you a helping hand when you need it the most, the X6 comes standard with driver-assistive technologies including Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Pedestrian Warning with City Collision Mitigation, and Speed Limit Information.
