The Rome prosecutor's office is
to open a probe into alleged damage of an artwork in relation to
the vandalism of the statue of a little elephant by Baroque
sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini on Sunday night,
sources said Tuesday.
Prosecutors are waiting to receive the necessary files and
video surveillance footage from municipal police, who
sequestered the piece of tusk found at the foot of the statue in
Rome's Piazza della Minerva, near the Pantheon.
