LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Opera star Luciano Pavarotti will be honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Friday.

The ceremony will be held Aug. 24, and will be attended by his daughter, Cristina Pavarotti. Also on the list of speakers is Cinzia Salvioli and conductor James Conlon.

Pavarotti’s star — in the category of live performance — will be the 2,730th on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and will be located at 7065 Hollywood Blvd.

“The legendary Maestro Pavarotti, whose voice transcended generations, will always be a gift to the world and a legend for eternity. We are proud to honor this icon and give his fans the opportunity to celebrate him when they visit his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said.

Pavarotti, who performed at opera houses around the world from 1961 until 2004, died in 2007 at the age of 71.
