DiscoTek Media will be the company behind the home-video distribution of the series. This is quite a big deal for the franchise, as this is the first time Symphogear will have any sort of release outside of Japan. Currently, the release is only slated for the Western (US) market, and there are no comments about an International release.
The announcement came out of the blue during a panel in Otakon. The release is only for the first season, and will only consist of subs only. The subbing of the songs themselves is still up in the air in terms of speculating, though reception is positive to the idea of doing so. The release of Symphogear to the US may make or break further commercialization not only in North America, but also the rest of the world, as Symphogear is largely a self-contained phenomena within Japan. Fringe user-bases enjoy Symphogear as a cult classic, but is a largely niche and obscure name even in smaller anime communities.

What does this community offer?
Come join us here! Make sure to read the rules and roles that we have for your convenience and understanding, since we extend the respect we offer others through our rules!
Hey there Symphoheads! Does that work? Is that a valid name… group moniker? Oh well, whatever. Anyway! Many of you probably have a closeted devotion towards this amalgamation of a show. It can be tough to wear something as lovely as Symphogear on your sleeve. You might as well be flashing highway strength lights into everyone’s eyes. Blinding people is counter-intuitive to introduce them to the good word that is Symphogear! Here are some strategies for making sure you can subtly show your appreciate for Symphogear, without overtly telling people what Symphogear is!
Remember! The best way to talk about Symphogear, is to become Symphogear.
Starting around Sunday, I will begin re-watching and commenting all the Symphogear seasons starting with the very first episode! Keep your eyes peeled; it’s gonna be a fun time of laughs, commentary, observations, and more!
Until next time!
Pitching an anime show is pretty tough! Symphogear is no exception! How exactly do you describe a multi-genre show to people that involves singing, robots, sentai groups, slice of life, drama, fighting, and action all in one package? It’s almost like taking a picky eater to a buffet; they might only like a specific plate and not want a lot of it and just go hungry! Gosh, I’m so hungry.
Do not despair, fellow Symphonian! (Symphogearian? Symphiliac..?) I have some tried and true strategies in carrying the good word about Symphogear to anyone who wishes to listen!
There’s many other ways to show people the beauty that is Symphogear that I’m sure, in time, you’ll grow to figure out during your experience in this wonderful franchise. Remember: You’ll always miss 100% of the chances you don’t take, and every person who you don’t talk to about Symphogear is one less potential fan in the ever growing pool of people to talk with about!
Catch you next time! Always remember! Let’s talk Symphogear!
Someone asked about the change of directors between Symphogear and Symphogear G on.
The directing changed from Tatsufumi Itou (Casshern Sins, Maria Holic) to Katsumi Ono (Yu-Gi-Oh, 5D, Arc V). Whether or not it is an improvement is a topic for debate for another time, but the influence from previous franchises is undeniable! From Kirika’s design to some of the more wild action scenes, there’s lots of little pockets of both writing and directing patterns you can get from content creators.
This event will be mainly taking place in the Let’s Talk Symphogear Discord. If you’re not in it, come on in! The water’s great! (Click here to join!)
For as long as there has been media, there has been original content based on that media. Symphogear, naturally, is no exception. From the ability of choosing interesting armor and color palette designs, to synergizing a person with a given historical relic, to the idea of seeing a character move around multiple factions in the ever-winding teamscape that is the Symphoworld, Symphogear lends itself to the very imagination every fan has. “What if I made someone in that universe? What would they be like?” Summer days wistfully thinking up new cool powers, character interactions, betrayals and even songs. Is there no better bliss?
Alas, OCs have had a bad reputation. Sneered upon as vehicles for self-fantasy, using only the worst of the worst examples to represent the reprehensible nature of those who would subvert it to disrespect the characterizations of the major faces in the franchise for their own ego-stroking. But fear not! I, your veritable host Antag, have torn down this foolishness. For here in this community, I fully command that our imaginations run free, while we task it upon ourselves to help others in our self-improvement of refining ideas for maximum fun. Who cares if people think it’s dumb? We do what we want!
You have the limit of making and submitting 3 original characters. They can be of any facet you desire, be it Alchemist, Symphogear, a member, or maybe some plainclothes civilian. Whoever it is that lives in this world that you want to create is a valid candidate for OC creation, as long as they’re relevant to the franchise.
You are highly encouraged to share your ideas to everyone else, and ask their advice for building up your character. There is no need to do this anonymously unless you desire to; the entire community is your audience.
At the end of the contest, I will compile all of the submissions and create a poll. Everyone, whether they made an OC or not, is free to vote on it once. You’ll be choosing 3 OCs that you like the most amongst all submissions, and after the voting period ends, I will compile the scores. Three winners, which means 3 original characters, will be chosen as first, second, or third.
First, second, and third place winners will all get a written story about their character from me. The creator may supply me with a topic /or/ allow me to make up a scenario for them on their own. If you’re the kind of person who wants to coordinate with me to make sure the details are correct, tell me, and I will do so.
First place will be 5 chapters long.
Second place will be 3 chapters long.
Third place will be 1 chapter long.
Every submission will be featured on the Let’s Talk Symphogear blog for everyone to see the final product of each original character and give their feedback freely.
The contest will last 3 weeks, with the voting period lasting 1 week.
Fics may take around a month to deliver, done in order of victor (first place, then second, then third). I will be actively contacting the winners for their input if necessary to make sure all the details are right.
Artists are encouraged to draw some OCs from this event as drawing practice, but make sure to avoid including drawings in the submission for your original character. This will be purely be judged by the voting participants on the merit of writing alone. Any art coming from this is purely for fun on the artist’s behalf.
Please use the following template for submissions. You can add in additional details, but these are the basic things you need to submit in order for your OC to be judged!

Happy Pride Month! While I could only wish we could live in a world where every month was pride month, may this pride month serve as a reminder to appreciate your friends’ identities and sexualities, and to continue striving for such a time where acceptance is fully embraced by all. To commemorate this Pride Month, I’ve even made a Symphogear inspired Pride Flag, consisting of the main team. (Don’t ask me why Maria is yellow.) Thank you all for being here, and I hope this month alongside the rest of your lives is as easy, simple, and filled with love as it deserves to be.
The recap will continue with an update tomorrow! I’ve just been pretty busy lately, but keep an eye out for updates!
See ya soon!
