Jack in the Box is expanding: Where is the fast-food chain setting up new locations?

Jack in the Box long tied to its home market out west is implementing a new initiative to expand its the fast-food restaurant’s horizons nationwide.

Update:
Where you might see an upcoming Jack in the Box location

Jack in the Box is “not your typical burger franchise” where those who have a craving can go for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a late night meal or just to get a snack. The brand that sells itself as a place that “has always been the place for those who live outside the box” is getting out of its own box with an aggressive expansion plan.

Long tied to its home market in the west, it has begun to implement a new plan to reignite franchise growth nationwide. For years, Jack in the Box had only around 2,200 restaurants but it is now seeking to expand its footprint across the United States reaching four percent annual growth by 2025.

The goal is to be present in 40 states by 2030 with over 6,000 restaurants across the country. It is looking to open new franchises in 33 states with future prospects of eventually spreading its brand into the Northeast.

Jack in the Box is expanding: Where is the fast-food chain setting up new locations?

Jack in the Box opened its first new market location in over a decade in Salt Lake City, causing quite a furor and traffic congestion in the vicinity. Since mid-2021, QSR Magazine reports that the fast-food chain has signed a total of 77 new agreements to open 340 restaurants. The Jack in the Box franchising webpage shows 33 states where licenses are available to set up shop.

Part of the expansion is the brand’s new CRAVED image, as was on display at the new location in Ogden, Utah. The new layout includes “a new color package, signage, and imagery. As a drive-thru only prototype, it includes a drive-thru and walk-up window for ordering and pickup, and dedicated parking for mobile and third-party delivery orders,” said chief development officer Tim Linderman.

Further afield, Jack in the Box has identified more than 1,500 locations that are opportune for new stores in the 21 states where it has a presence. There are another 2,250 potential sites in the 29 other states that have yet to get the Jack in the Box to add to the chain’s “loyal customer base with a strong reputation for thinking outside the box when it comes to fast food.”
