Oh, young love. The Wonder Years actress Danica McKellar and Full House star Candance Cameron Bure came up together as child actors on some of the biggest family sitcoms on television at the time.

But McKellar recently revealed at That’s4Entertainment’s’90s Con that she “found out years later” that the longtime pals shared more than a friendship — they had unknowingly been dating the same guy in the ’80s.

“So, in 1989, I believe it was, there was this party that a teen magazine was putting on and [Growing Pains star] Jeremy Miller, who was also a young actor, he was at this party,” she recalled, per Fox News Digital.

“He asked me to be his girlfriend. And I was like, ‘Yes!’ And I didn’t know at the time, but I guess Candace thought that she and Jeremy were dating,” McKellar explained. “[It’s] so silly. I mean, we were so young. We were like 13 years old. So, this was not any kind of serious relationship we’re talking about.”

McKellar added that she didn’t find out until “years later” when she appeared on Dancing with the Stars.

“I found out that she was like, ‘Oh, we were dating.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ So, Jeremy, tsk tsk, not good,” she said with a laugh. “But luckily my friendship with Candace has survived just fine.”

In 2015, Miller also spoke on his relationship drama, though he remembered it a bit differently.

According to Miller’s account, he and Bure began dating when he was 11 years old because her older brother Kirk was his co-star on Growing Pains.

“Candace and I were ‘going together.’ You know, we didn’t go anywhere; we were kids… There’s no going anywhere, you just were ‘together,’ whatever the heck that meant!” Jeremy explained during a 2015 Oprah: Where Are They Now special, per Huffington Post. “We saw each other on the set. She’d come with the family and stuff to visit us while we were working. We’d see each other at parties for Growing Pains and stuff like that. When she started doing Full House, we started going over there and visiting.”

But when he was 12 years old, Miller recalled crossing paths with McKellar at an event for Teen Beat magazine.

“I was pretty smitten from day one,” he said. “She was a couple of years older than me at that point. I was 12, I think she was 14. She had no interest in me whatsoever because I was younger. But that did not deter me.”

Miller explained that he decided to break up with Bure so he could take McKellar out on a date. Their first date, as Miller explained it, included a limo ride to go see the new Batman and ice cream after.

“Apparently, I broke Candace’s heart at that point,” he said.

But the former child stars have since patched things up and have stayed in touch over the years. McKellar has also starred in several movies on Bure’s new network home, Great American Family, where she landed after leaving Hallmark in 2022.

“They’re both wonderful, wonderful ladies,” Miller said of Bure and McKellar. “I’m very lucky to have good friends like that, from so far back, that still care about me and that I still get to hang out with and see occasionally.”
