Opel Frontera: New E-SUV from Rüsselsheim presented

So-called e-SUVs are still considered to be the best-sellers par excellence if you take a look at the electric car market. Opel obviously wants a slice of the pie too. With the Opel Frontera, the car manufacturer from Rüsselsheim has now presented a compact SUV that will not only be available as a hybrid, but also in a fully electric version.

First pictures of the Opel Frontera

The first images of the new Opel SUV are reminiscent of a larger Opel Mokka. Consequently, no false experiments are being made here, at least in terms of design. Instead, the company is relying on old virtues. Prospective buyers of the compact car in a high version will have a choice of different engines. There will apparently not be a pure gasoline engine.

Instead, the Opel Frontera(official website) will be launched either with a hybrid engine or as a fully electric version. This is not really courageous on Opel’s part. But since the e-car market is currently suffering from weak sales figures anyway, the whole thing is not really surprising. The fact that there is no pure petrol engine can already be seen from the front. There is no classic radiator grille here.

Instead, the so-called Opel Vizor is used again – a continuous closed front with a modern company logo. The inner values also seem to be right. The Rüsselsheim-based company has equipped the cockpit with a total of two 10-inch screens. If you don’t feel like controlling the car via the two displays, you can apparently also use a station for your own smartphone. This then serves as a control unit.

The seats are also set to be a highlight. With its “Intelli-Seat”, Opel wants to significantly improve seating and thus also driving comfort. The manufacturer is relying on special indentations to ensure a comfortable seat even on long journeys. Of course, the rest of the equipment is also state-of-the-art.

The upcoming SUV is not a giant. This can also be seen in the trunk volume. With the rear seats folded down, there is plenty of space with 1,600 liters. However, with the seats in the upright position, the 460 liters of space can also be used to transport a week’s worth of groceries or even luggage for a short vacation.

More details are still missing

As befits a first presentation, Opel still owes us a lot of information about the upcoming Opel Frontera. We are particularly curious about the battery size, range and engine power of the all-electric version. The Rüsselsheim-based company has also not yet commented on prices or a release date.
