Preah Vihear Temple (Khmer: ប្រាសាទព្រះវិហារ Prasat Preah Vihea; Thai: ปราสาทพระวิหาร; Prasat Phra Wihan) is an ancient Hindu temple built by the Khmer Angkorian Empire, situated atop a 525-metre (1,722 ft) cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains, in the Preah Vihear province, Cambodia. In 1962, following a lengthy dispute between Thailand and Cambodia over ownership, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague ruled that the temple is in Cambodia.

From Cambodia, the temple can be approached either by Tbeng Meanchey in Preah Vihear province or from Siem Reap in Siem Reap province via Anlong Veng. Although the highway is paved when it leaves Siem Reap, both roads are (occasionally) graded gravel once they begin to approach the Dangrek escarpment.

  • It's amazing that an 11th century temple would create a new holy war between Thailand and Cambodia which results in further Thai civil unrest and further distrust of Thai government for claims of having given away Thai's land rights to Cambodia. Cambodia uses children to construct housiong and the world needs to pay attention to this severe issue. STOP CHILD LABOUR in Cambodia FIRST and then worry about religious artifacts.!
  • MANY PROBLEM DESTROY IT
